The event will take place on Tuesday, June 23. Buses (with local guides) will depart at 4pm from the conference venue (outside the Askja building of the University of Iceland). The bus tour starts with a scenic drive through the dramatic landscapes of Krísuvík, where we will pause briefly to explore its geothermal fields offering a glimpse into Iceland’s volcanic nature.

From there, we continue towards Grindavík, a coastal town that has recently drawn attention due to intense volcanic activity in the region. We will also have the opportunity to overlook the town.

The tour then leads us across the Reykjanes Peninsula, where the raw geology of Iceland is on full display. If conditions allow, we may stop at one of the rare sites where the Mid-Atlantic Rift is visible, between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.

We will then aim towards a Viking-style restaurant in the port town of Hafnarfjörður, for our banquet. Then, we will get back to the Reykjavik center, where we expect to arrive around 10.30pm.

The tour will be operated by SNÆLAND TRAVEL, a family owned tour operator founded in 1945.
